Luggage
  It is important to abide by the following guidelines since the airport agents will reinforce the luggage restrictions with regard to weight and size. Luggage that exceeds the defined dimensions or weight limits may cause flight delays due to handling.

It is important to confirm the restrictions before departure.

Every passenger may transport 1 (one) piece of checked luggage, whose weight must not exceed 25 (twenty-five) kilograms (55 pounds) and whose external linear surface (length + width + height) together must not exceed more that 1.18 meters (3.87 feet).

You may bring one carry-on piece that weighs no more than 5 (five) kilograms (11 pounds). The size of this carry-on must be in compliance with the regulation size so that it will fit in the airplane’s overhead compartments. ALMA DE MEXICO is not responsible for damage, loss or theft of unchecked luggage.

Any excess in size and/or weight will generate an extra charge. ALMA DE MEXICO reserves the right to deny transportation or delay your arrival on any of its flights, for operational or security reasons.

It is important to read the applicable security restrictions.

Identifying your luggage

It is important that your luggage be easily identifiable, with visible localization tags on the exterior. In addition, to facilitate the revision of luggage we ask that it not carry locks, since it will later be strapped.

If the luggage is broken, torn or has any visible flaw, it must be declared at the time of check in at ALMA DE MEXICO’s counters. Similary, if the contents are fragile or delicate, this must be visibly identifiable and declared so that the piece may be given special treatment. If this is not done, ALMA DE MEXICO will not be responsible for later claims at the time of its reception at the end of your trip.

We highly recommend that you verify the permitted weight and size restrictions, as well as the security restrictions that currently apply.

Domestic flights - Notice of limitations of responsibility for luggage.

Flights made completely within the Mexican Republic:
  • Responsibility for lost or damaged luggage is limited to up to 75 days of minimum wage of the locality where the transportation service incident occurred.
  • No responsibility for electronic equipment, photographic equipment, jewelry, cash, computer equipment or other articles of similar value.
  • Damaged luggage must be reported within 24 hours of having received it.
Note: The rules that prevail over the limitations of ALMA DE MEXICO’s responsibility for lost, damaged or delayed luggage, and the responsibility of the passenger to notify in a timely manner such lost, damaged or delayed luggage vary depending on the nature of your trip.

Luggage claim

To make any of the claims described below, you will need to present an official identification with photograph (IFE, passport, SMN card or driver’s license), present your boarding pass and fill out a form for the corresponding claim at the ALMA DE MEXICO counter at the destination airport.

  • Lost luggage: Fill out an initial report at the airport. It is indispensable that the report contain a detailed list of the contents of the lost luggage, the original luggage ticket stubs of the lost luggage, the airplane ticket (passenger coupon) and receipt of excess luggage payment, if paid.

  • Damaged luggage: Damaged luggage should be reported immediately to ALMA DE MEXICO’s airport front desk.

  • Missing items from luggage content: Fill out an initial report at the airport with the airplane ticket (passenger coupon). It is indispensable that the report contain a detailed list of the missing/damaged items, along with an estimate of their value.

  • Damage to luggage contents: Fill out an initial report at the airport with the airplane ticket (passenger coupon).

Web Check–In

This service is recommended to those passengers who will not be checking luggage. If you do need to check in luggage, please arrive at least 90 minutes before your flight departure.
